What am I doing?

The mini manual is due on Thursday. I've started taking some screenshots, and had planned to start writing a few of the procedures. Instead I'm watching South Park and not writing anything.

I had planned to start writing stuff tonight so I could take a large part of tomorrow to play Twilight, but now I'm not sure I'll be able to. I suppose I could, but that'll only give me 2 days to write the entire manual. I guess it could be done, but I'd feel better getting this thing done before the last minute.

Complaining about stuff I have to do on here is usually a good way to get myself motivated to actually get it done, so here's hoping.

Time off

My morning class today got cancelled, so I got to sleep til almost noon. It was great. It was like my weekend came a day early but I can't start doing anything because I have to go learn about FrameMaker at 3 o'clock. Hm, there's supposed to be a test coming up in that class, but I don't know if it's this week or next week.

Oh well, FrameMaker isn't that hard to use. It's confusing to learn, but once you figure out where the tools are hidden, it's fairly simple to manipulate. It feels horribly archaic, but apparently its very popular in industry, so we have to know it.

My mini manual assignment is due next Thursday, and sadly I have yet to start it. It only has to be 6 pages (minimum) and I'm doing it on the Internet Scrabble Club client. Remember my old posts about playing Scrabble online? I'm going to start doing that again. And not just because I need screenshots of the installation and registration process...

You know what's really disappointing? When the campus computer store sells the Adobe and Macromedia creative suites for 10% of the retail price, but don't have any in stock. I went in there yesterday after class, and the only Adobe suite they had was the Mac version, which is completely useless to me. No Macromedia ones at all (and I really wanted a copy of Dreamweaver).

They had half a shelf of useful software, and an entire wall of board games. In the computer store. I hate Algonquin sometimes.

Approaching the quarter century

Another week, another blog post. I really should get more diligent about this thing.

Anyway, my birthday is on Saturday. Hooray. I'm turning 25, so I'll be a full quarter century old. I'm sure some people will scoff at that number, but it's a big deal to me. Kinda. Well, not really.

It seems like it should be a major event, but really I just can't get excited about it. Anyone expecting a long well-thought-out essay about the meaning of life and how our time is fleeting is going to be disappointed, I guess.

I share a birthday with Burt Reynolds, which automatically makes me awesome.

And we've come full circle

I have to revamp my resume and give it to the course coordinator so he can send it off to companies for my work placement. I was originally just going to tack on my new technical writing experience and education, but then I noticed that my summary of qualifications has a few different styles of listing information. Some lines have numbers, others don't, and it looks kinda bad.

So, I'm restructuring it, and I've run into my old problem of not wanting to do anything to my resume. Just like the olden days. It's just as frustrating too.

At least I don't have to write a cover letter.
